I remember when I was 14 years old, in 1964—rather a child than anything else—there was an Art Nouveau exhibition in the Secession building. I had no idea what Art Nouveau meant at that time. And even though I had no understanding of it I had a feeling that it was very special. I still remember this feeling and this was one of the [things] that made me what I am today. It was like a promise of a fascinating future.

Born and raised in Vienna, Designer Robert Horn has been in the business of luxury leather goods for more than 20 years. He owns R. Horn's Wien, which prides itself in upholding famous Viennese traditions while reinventing and reinterpreting many directions of design. Horn comfortably combines the modern minimalist style of the Wiener Werkstätte with Victorian elements and unusual materials, creating handbags, rocking chairs and memory stick holders out of lambskin, crocodile leather and shark skin. Although the style and craftsmanship of his travel accessories and furniture are traditional, they are remarkably contemporary in their aesthetic. True to typical Viennese tradition, R. Horn's Wien doesn't cut the edges of its leather works, but folds them, as has been the tradition for more than two centuries.
