Submission to the Re:Vision Awards is now closed. Applicants selected for Phase 2 of judging will be notified in December 2009.
Modern Painters magazine and Louise Blouin Media are proud to announce the inaugural Re:Vision Design Awards. The first international competition of its kind, the Re:Vision Design Awards challenges emerging designers of all stripes to revisit, rethink and reimagine how we live in our homes. Modern Painters welcomes submissions from across the design spectrum—whether from the field of furniture, lighting, product, interior or environmental design (or some combination of these)—that thoughtfully explore new ways to live, work, play and interact in the domestic environment.
Designers and design students are encouraged to think broadly and imaginatively in answering the central question:
How can design make the way we live in our homes more efficient, sustainable, enjoyable and/or beautiful?
An international jury, comprised of leading designers, design curators, entrepreneurs and thinkers, will evaluate entries based on material and design innovation, performance and visual appeal, among other criteria. Limited-production, prototype and concept designs are the focus here: Products already in mass production are ineligible, while new designs created specifically for the competition are particularly encouraged.
- The first prize winner will receive $10,000
- Two runners up will receive $2,500
- All three will be featured in Modern Painters' May 2010 issue and on ARTINFO.com
- A select number of finalists will also have their work presented on ARTINFO.com
The launch of the Re:Vision Design Awards celebrates the expansion of Modern Painters’ coverage of contemporary art to more fully include design in recognition of its growing prominence and importance. For the past two decades, Modern Painters has offered unparalleled global access to the worlds of art and culture.
